Good ol’ American BBQ

….or something like that.

The guys- Jerry, Nate, Dan & Allie- had a hankering for burgers. Nun was craving some desserts & I was aching to do some baking. It is after all, the holidays. My sisters and nieces would be back in the states baking delicious types of Christmas cookies, so you can see why I was itching to bake something.

As usual though, the plan didn’t go as expected. I had a can of pumpkin puree I was hoping to work wonders with. Now I know pumpkin season has been long gone but i love pumpkin anything, and while peppermint is more holiday-ish I don’t particularly like peppermint desserts.

I was determined to make pumpkin pie, I had been since my Thai-giving. But Tesco Lotus failed me miserably. No pie crust. No cinnamon. No cloves. No ginger. The pie crust I could have delt with but no cinnamon?! I gave up. I made fudge brownies in this halogen oven which ended up burning. Good thing I decided last second to make deep fried oreos.

OK so I didn’t end up baking cookies. I did make little desserts Jerry coined ‘goo’ balls. Here’s what went in them:

Peanut butter. Raisins. Vanilla extract. Blend will and wa-lah.

I also made pumpkin choco pb ‘goo’ balls from

Peanut butter, raisins, hot cocoa powder, vanilla, and pumpkin puree.

'goo' balls

Everyone cringed at the site of them, but when I forced them to try it they oued and awed and how delightful they were :O)

We also made french fries in a wok, pumpkin & egg, bruschetta, and pizza bread. Not exactly your typical American BBQ but the guys got their bacon cheeseburgers and I, my little goo balls.

In heaven... can you tell from his expression?

Deep Fried Oreos...when you don't have marshmallows grab oreos and fry um!

We cooked outside on a hot plate, mini grill, and the halogen oven. As weird of a kitchen as it was I still enjoyed being in it deep frying oreos, french fries, choppin tomatoes, and making goo balls in the blender that seemed to die and come back to life every few seconds.

I still have a huge can of pumpkin left…. anyone have any no-bake pumpkin recipes I could use?

I love setert food! I think some of the best food I’ve tasted, especially any food on a stick and grilled , was bought off a cart. I’d definitely go to Thailand just for the food.
