Surfing in Bali

Kuta Beach at sunset

When I hear Bali I think of two things- surfing and the popular book, later made into movie, Eat Pray Love. While I could never bring myself to finish the book, I did watch the movie and enjoyed Julia Robert’s portrayal of Elizabeth Gilbert.

I didn’t know much about Bali but I knew this, we HAD to surf. We arrived very late on Friday and early the next morning we had already thrown ourselves into the salty water with some giant long boards! For our first times it went pretty well, and it was pretty exciting. Check us out!

We’re staying in Kuta, the popular beach spot in Bali and today, we planned to go more inland to Ubud but decided we’d much rather stay here and soak in the sun and the night life. Bali is also known for it’s nightlife so Lil and I couldn’t pass up the urge to check out the scenes after 10pm. Now, for me, this is big since I hardly venture out past my bed time. What can I say? I like my sleep!

Oh remember the detox I did? I felt it a few days later which was better but it wasn’t an extreme change. The detox consisted of two concoctions of magnesium something-or-other and 3 oranges, juice of two lemons, and a mixture of olive oil and grapefruit juice. Totally holistic, unlike those other detoxes where they probe you !!

I’d say Lil and I are off to a good start in Bali, and a good end since today is our last day and we booked another cooking class! Also, I want to apologize for taking for long to post. From here on out I think our schedules are going to be jam-packed! Exciting and a bit tiring but worth it, so bear with me with the infrequent updates!

If your wondering about the food in Bali, it’s absolutely amazing and delicious. Plenty of veg options for me too :O)
